at Burlapped, we decided to build an Environmental Board (“The Board”) of individuals and groups dedicated to reducing our impact on planetary health!
Similar to a non-profit model, the Burlapped Environmental Board (“The Board”) is not a part of Burlapped LLC in any way. The Board is simply a 3rd party group that has resources, expertise, or a purpose that aligns with our businesses goals and mission. The Board works with Burlapped in the following ways:
Role of the The Board
Monthly Meetings
The Board meets monthly to discuss Burlapped progress, new information, useful resources, and any additional related topics
Network & Insight
The Board provides a wealth of knowledge, experience, and a large network of individuals & groups who all share a similar goal of improving planetary health in the near future
New Members
The Board will have oversight when adding new members to The Board to ensure that any addition is mission aligned and can at as an impactful Board Member!
Founding Board Member Algalita
Algalita is an internationally known environmental nonprofit that started the movement to end plastic pollution nearly 30 years ago. They were the first to discover, and bring attention to, the swirling soup of plastic pollution in the Pacific – now known by many as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Since then, they've worked to revolutionize the plastic pollution conversation by building a web of connections between researchers, activists, industry leaders, educators, and young people across the globe.
Algalita was founded by lifelong Long Beach local, Captain Charles Moore who is accredited with sparking the Great Plastics Awakening - bringing the plastic pollution conversation to the world stage for the first time in the early 2000's.
